- KATAKLYSM/SHADOWS FALL TOUR DATES ANNOUNCED...
Northern hyper-blasters
KATAKLYSM have been confirmed as direct support to SHADOWS
FALL on a U.S. tour this April. Also appearing on the bill
will be THE SHOWDOWN, ARSIS and DROID.
Commented KATAKLYSM lead singer Maurizio
Iacono:
"Well, I guess our break time is over. Today we will be
having a listening session of our new album, 'Prevail',
for the media and our friends in Hollywood, then we fly
off to Australia for our first-ever tour there!
We are planning a massive touring campaign
centered around the new album.
On our return from Australia, we will prepare
for a two-week run with SHADOWS FALL. It will be cool to
tour with those guys again since it's been a while since
we've played together.
As many of you already know, as well we
will be on the 'Summer Slaughter Tour' this June/July. So
in true KATAKLYSM road warrior tradition we have set ourselves
up for something like 60 to 70 shows from April to July!
We will be premiering some new songs on
our MySpace next month and we're thinking of playing two
new tracks on the SHADOWS FALL run!
We are very proud of 'Prevail' and the
comments from those who've heard it so far have been OUTSTANDING!
We can't wait to see all you crazy fucks out there in the
pit with fists in the air! See you soon!"

remaining dates in Australia will go as planned. Flights

E xpect an explosive set!

- ALBUM RECORDING COMPLETE
Hello Everyone!
KATAKLYSM has just finished the recording
process for their highly anticipated new album "PREVAIL".
Comments producer/guitarist J-f Dagenais:
"Finally... I'm the one who never takes
a break in the band and I can finally breathe!! After two
months, the album is fucking done! Just layed down a few
leads yesterday and double checked everything, the album
came out great. The sources are fantastic and don't expect
"In the Arms of Devastation 2" - this album stands on a
league of its own, everyone gave it 150%. It's the most
brutal since "Temple of Knowledge" and "Serenity in Fire"
and the most catchy since "Shadows & Dust" and "ITAOD".
Expect the best, because that's the effort we gave it. Next
week we fly to Jason Suecof's studio in Orlando, FL. where
we will be putting the final touches to this masterpiece!"
-J-F
Album is scheduled for release via Nuclear
Blast Records May 23rd Europe / May 27th North America and
rest of the world. The band will unleash the new breathtaking
artwork next month as a preview.
01/11/2008

- KATAKLYSM CANCELS EURO. TOUR W/ BEHEMOTH | NEW
MANAGEMENT IN EFFECT!
Kataklysm
have decided to cancel their upcoming UK & Iberia tour
alongside friends Behemoth, scheduled for next Feb.
Explains singer Maurizio Iacono:
"First I'd like to say how crazy of
a ride it's been since the release if ITAOD. We've done
over 200 shows in less than two years... Nine tours across
the world and meeting all our fans was the highlight. They
made our last album the biggest and strongest to date. It's
been great, but the machine needs time off. There's nothing
more we like then to stay on the road non stop, but we have
to come to reality here and see that we need to take a breather,
recharge our batteries and come back stronger then ever
with a brand new album, because we will have to redo this
all over again in no time. We didn't want to cancel the
tour with Behemoth, but after much thought it was the right
decision. J-F has to keep working through January on the
new album, so he gets absolutely no break time, which isn't
fair. Then we have to mix it in February, and we need to
be here to supervise this new masterpiece we created for
you guys. PREVAIL is the priority for next year and it needs
our full attention... But don't worry, we have A LOT of
plans ahead of us, and we will be back in no time at all.
Also this doesn't affect the New Zealand and Australian
dates in late March, those will go ahead as planned.
Other then that, the band is doing great,
Steph will be rejoining us for the last four shows of this
tour with Chimaira, which has been great. We got a couple
more dates left, check our myspace or website and come check
us out, these will be the last dates til the next record
comes out. I'd like to wish everyone out there some happy
holidays with your loved ones."
Cheers!

- KATAKLYSM AND BEHEMOTH JOIN FORCES AGAIN!!
After sending
shockwaves across europe this last sept, oct, one of the
most succesfull combination has joined forces once again.
Kataklysm and Behemoth have joined forces for a quick European
tour that will hit mainly the UK and Iberia (Spain/Portugal).
The band will also introduce a new song from their upcoming
album "PREVAIL" due out May 2008. Comments singer
Maurizio Iacono:
"We were planning on coming back to
the UK in 2008, since the dates went so well there and the
crowds were so killer. Then we found out our friends in
Behemoth were gonna be there at the same time as well, so
we decided to join forces. Last run was intense as fuck,
both bands feeding off each other's
live energy every night. This time it wont be any different.
I salute Nergal and co. and wait for another killer run
to arrive"

- KATAKLYSM GUITARIST COMMENTS ON DECAPITATED DRUMMER
PASSING
Statement:
"It's with sad regret that I learned
this morning of the tragic passing of Vitek. I met him on
the Nile tour (I was doing sound for Hypocrisy, and Decapitated
was sharing a bus with us). He was a real cool dude and
very down to earth. We had some good times on that tour.
I'm just out of words with what happened. On behalf of all
in Kataklysm, our deepest thoughts are with Vitek's family
and friends. We would also like to send positive messages
to Adam "Covan" to keep fighting to get better
and come back to the stage soon."

- DUBLIN AND GLASGOW CANCELLATIONS
Kataklysm
were forced to cancel the shows in Dublin and Glasgow on
the 21st and 22nd for circumstances beyong the band's control.
Comments singer Maurizio Iacono:
"What a disapointment it was... What
happend is simple. We didn't wanna make a big fuss out of
it, but the hordes of angry Scotish and Irish fans contacting
us, wondering why we cancelled, made me issue this update.
We were 10 min. away from the fairy to Ireland when our
tour manager woke us up in the early morning, telling us
that the driver had been arrested because of overdrives
and not taking the required rest time - In Europe, a new law has been established for six months,
demanding new restrictions and less road times for drivers.
This law had been protested by drivers and they made an
example out of us.
Our driver was a cool cat, worked hard for us but he needed
to get to Dublin in time so he broke the law. Since it happend
a few times on this tour, the bus records couldn't lie,
so the officer (a douchbag by the way) had no compensation
and gave us the maximum fines, which included arresting
the driver and taking the bus... So we were stranded in
Wales. Special thanks to the whole Rock the Nation organization,
who solved the problem extremely fast and got us and Aborted
a nice hotel. We waited for a new bus to pick us up the
next day, which did but just a tad too late to make it in
time to Glasgow. We will make it up next year, we won't
forget!! Everything else is killer, the tour was a gem and
we look forward to the NB festival this weekend, and going
back home to pound the US and Canadian soil on the Chimaira
tour... It's gona kill!!
Take care, -Maurizio

- TOUR UPDATE
Kataklysm
is in the middle of a european tour at the moment and things
are well.
Comments Maurizio:
Comments Maurizio:
"One week into this tour of European markets we haven't
hit for the last album, and it seems like they've been waiting
for us forever. Phenomenal crowds, packed every night...
And having a packed house singing along - or screaming "In
Shadows and Dust" together sure makes it feel gigantic.
We can't wait to hit Scandinavia soon and the UK, as well
as the other countries that are waiting for us. Aborted
are a powerhouse, the band fucking rips live and Behemoth
are a fucking war machine. What a great package and great
times. Everyone is having fun and getting along. Life is
good, let;s keep it up!"
-Maurizio
For all those attending Kataklysm for the
first time, come prepared for a hurricane of a live performance!
Kataklysm will immediately return to North
American soil as direct support to Chimaira from November
until Xmas, some off dates will also be announced. The band
is looking forward to this tour.
Unfortunately, bassist Stephane Barbe will
not be able to make the trek on the Chimaira tour due to
an important family obligation (Stephane and his girlfriend
are expecting their first child). He will rejoin the band
on the three last dates of the tour - Montreal, Toronto
and Millvale shows. Kataklysm will be utilizing the services
of Francois Mongrain, bassplayer of tech death metalers
Martyr for the tour until Stephane can rejoin the band.
More news coming soon...

- STUDIO UPDATE + TOURING
Kataklysm
are well underway towards completing the recording of their
new album "Prevail" as the band gears up for their
upcoming touring activities...
Comments Maurizio:
"Spent the last ten days in Quebec at J-F's new studio
(which is mint by the way, feels right at home!), got all
my vocals down tight. We spent many hours listening to the
tracks over and over and thinking of things we could've
done differently or change on the patterns, and it's all
there the way it should be. I was very prepared for this
album and very focused. I worked the hardest I ever have
on an album. I'm happy with the results and I think people
will be excited when this hits the streets. J-F is in the
middle of recording his guitar tracks right now and then
Stephane will hit the rumbling bass on it early next week.
This album will hit you in every way possible, I promise!"
"So now we are getting ready and looking
forward to our European tour that starts in two weeks, and
also the Chimaira tour. The package is diverse and interesting.
We'll have a hard hitting set list and might travel back
a couple of records too. Come out and hang out and drink
with us, for Kataklysm the best
part of touring is meeting all of you and seeing you go
crazy and be loud in the pit of course! Cheers!" -Maurizio
PREVAIL will be mixed by Jason Suecof (Chimaira,
Trivium, The Black Dahlia Murder) in January 2008 and will
drop like a nuclear explosion on May 23rd 2008.

- STUDIO UPDATE
Kataklysm
are currently busy recording their new masterpiece album
"Prevail".
Here is an update from guitarist/producer J-F Dagenais:
"Big hello to everyone and all the
Kat maniacs out there! I'm happy to say that we are just
about done tracking drums for "Prevail". I'm so
excited with this album and we are off to a killer start.
Max's performance is outstanding! I've been playing with
Max since 1994 and this is by far the best drum recording
he has ever made. When I record artists, I push them to
the maximum to get the best out of them. On this recording,
I had to ask Max for a break - go figure!... Anyway the
bottom line is the grooves pound the house, the blast beats
are the fastest in the biz and it's intricate, he is a machine!...
So we're going to go over everything this weekend, make
sure all is good, then Tuesday Maurizio comes down to lay
the law on the vocals. Can't fucking wait! I think we are
going to take some pictures and post them on our myspace
and website next week... Give you a little glimpse ;) More
news next week!" - J-F
After Kataklysm complete recording the
album , they will embark on a European tour with friends
Behemoth and Aborted starting at the end of September.
Kataklysm also confirmed that they will
indeed be part of Chimaira's upcoming North American tour,
which will run from Nov to Dec... The tour billing is Chimaira
/ Kataklysm / Terror / Divine Heresy.
Come check out the devastation live!

- KATAKLYSM CONFIRMS AUSTRALIAN TOUR!
Kataklysm
have officially confirmed their first Australian tour, that
will also hit New Zealand, for late March 2008. The band
is extremely thrilled to finally play for their Aussie fans.
Expect an electrifying live set that Kataklysm is known
for. As many as eight shows are planned, dates to be released
in the coming weeks... Stay tuned!
08/15/2007
- KATAKLYSM ENTERS STUDIO!
The band is
entering the studio this week with producer and guitarist
J-F Dagenais. Drummer Max Duhamel will first lay down the
drum work for "PREVAIL". The recording process
will last five weeks (hopefully), with vocalist Maurizio
Iacono scheduled to record his vocals in Sept.
Comments Maurizio:
"The album is done and ready to go,
although it was a breeze to write this album as things came
so naturally. On the lyrics end, I worked the hardest I
have in years, making sure everything is where it should
be. At times it was real difficult but the end result will
speak for itself. I'm truly convinced this album will take
no prisoners. As you know we don't repeat the same record
twice, this album stands on a league of its own - and I'm
not saying it's our best album, because only the fans have
the right to say whether it is or not. All I'm saying is
I listen to the songs and I wanna punch the fucking wall...
that means we are on to something good."
Kataklysm has also hired the services of
producer Jason Suecof (Chimaira, Trivium, The Black Dahlia
Murder) to mix the album in early January 2008. "PREVAIL"
will also feature some guest appearances to be announced
at a later date.
The highly anticipated album is scheduled
for a worldwide release date of MAY 23rd 2008 via Nuclear
Blast Records.
Stay tuned as the band will release a few
touring annoucements very soon.

- FURTHER UPDATES ON "PREVAIL" WRITING
SESSION...
"So I'm
back home in Chicago , after what I could say was the "smoothest"
writing session we've ever did. Everything came naturally.
Every album is like your baby -`some come agressive, some
more sensitive and emotional, but this kid we are about
to spawn is going to have some big balls and it's one angry
motherfucker!... It;s going to hit where it matters, so
much so that we might not be able to just chose the typical
nine songs we usually try to keep going every record. This
one might have more songs and might be longer in length
- this might be required to capture its full essence!
In more good news, the guys are ready to
lay down the tracks for "PREVAIL". I announced
a few titles already, like THE VULTURES ARE WATCHING, BREATHE
TO DOMINATE and the title track PREVAIL. Well here is another
one - EVERYTHING COMES FALLING, one of my favorites on the
album so far for sure.
On the music department, the album is right
were we want it. Now it's all up to me to put the right
flavors. Lyrically, the album will have a feeling of human
struggle, feeling trapped and uncertainty about the future.
I'm also going to dabble with trust. Ithink in many ways
it represents all of us at some point in our lives. I'm
going to focus a lot on that emotion of feeling, like those
four fucking walls are closing in - something I presonaly
felt most of my life. The end result is to PREVAIL when
we face our inner demons or surrender... Let's see if we
can PREVAIL and do that with this album, and reach that
place we set for ourselves a long time ago... The journey
begins August 15th.
See ya!"
-Maurizio

- KATAKLYSM CANCELS U.S. TOUR DATES...
After much
thought, Kataklysm have decided to Cancel the few dates
they had lined up with Devildriver next month, in favor
to enter the studio.
Comments guitarist J-F Dagenais:
"I think we - all in the band - looking forward to
hitting the road again and raise mayhem, but there's a lot
of magic that just created with the writing process and
all of us are too much into it to break the mood and progress.
My studio is ready and we dediced to start recording the
new album "PREVAIL" on August 15th and work on
it til we leave for our European tour at the end of September.
We also decided that we will mix the album in January in
Florida with producer JASON SUECOF (Trivium, Chimaira, Black
Dahlia Murder), which we are looking forward to. Myself
and Jason will make sure the album is as flawless as possible
with a crushing production!! So for the many fans that were
hitting up our MySpace and website, looking forward to seeing
us live this summer... we sincerely apologize but it's for
a good cause, trust me. On the other side of things, we
have some very serious offers for Nov. and Dec. so we are
planning on hitting the road in the States then. There's
some big things in the horizon... We will keep you posted!"
07/19/2007
- SHADOWS & DUST REBORN!
Nuclear Blast
records and Kataklysm have decided to re-release the classic
and ground-breaking masterpiece album "SHADOWS &
DUST". Originally released in 2002, "SHADOWS &
DUST" is considered by many as one of the current modern
death metal genre defining albums. Songs like IN SHADOWS
& DUST, ILLUMINATI, FACE THE FACE OF WAR, to name a
few, were instant hits and til this day defy the test of
time.
Kataklysm will give the album a small facelift
by giving it a new mastering job and hiring expert ALAN
DOUCHES (Hatebreed, Mastodon, Cannibal Corpse) to bring
it up to date. Furthermore, the re-release will include
the track 'INSIDE THE MATERIAL FLESH' as a bonus track from
the "SHADOWS & DUST" sessions, along with
a new packaging and the videoclip for the bombastic IN SHADOWS
& DUST.
Nuclear Blast Records has set a Nov. 6th
North American release date.

- KATAKLYSM SINGER MAURIZIO IACONO OFFERS AN UPDATE
ON FUTURE ACTIVITIES
"First
off, I want to sincerely thank everyone involved with The
Invaluable Darkness Tour we just completed with our friends
DIMMU. We would like to thank them for treating us like
brothers and to all their crew for helping us out when we
needed it. This new friendship is forged in blood! Thanks
also to Devildriver whom we shared a bus with and developed
a new friendship. Last but not least, the dudes in Unearth,
all cool people. This tour was a triumph for us in all senses,
especially to be able to play for our fans on a bigger package,
who proved to us everyday that all the blood and sweat wasn't
for nothing. The words of encouragement from our fans mean
EVERYTHING. We're gonna finish writing a new album, titled
Prevail, this summer, because we know how important this
one will be for our fans, and "prevail" is exactly
what we want to do with this album. It has to be as perfect
as we can make it. If it doesn't bring the goosebumps, it
ain't coming out right. Guitarist J-F Dagenais will produce
and engineer the album as always. The album will be mixed
by another producer wich we will announce shortly, the album
is scheduled for an April 2008 release. In the meantime,
we have two more tours planned this year: late summer or
early fall in North America and in Europe in October with
Behemoth and Aborted. A big thank you to all our supporters
worldwide. We won't disappoint - you know how we roll!"
05/14/2007
- THANKS...
To all of
you who attended the show in Reno, NV. tonight. It was a
first time for us and the crowd was awesome. We will definitely
be back!

- KATAKLYSM REPORTS FROM THE INVALUABLE DARKNESS
TOUR!
Here we are,
almost half way through the "Invaluable Darkness"
tour and the fans' reception to Kataklysm has been nothing
short of astonishing. Opening a tour like this is a big
task for any band and on top of it, being the band on the
bill with the least recognition and the only band that hasn't
been on Ozzfest and tours of the like makes our job ten
times harder... BUT my friends, let me tell you something
- it's been the fucking opposite! Every show we came ready
and determined with no expectations, so we went on and the
place was full and the people were loud. They are ready
for us, singing our lyrics, pounding their fists in the
air and creating some of the biggest mosh pits we have ever
seen in North America for Kataklysm. We've had several promoters
coming to thank us after the show, impressed with the reactions,
etc "Havent seen anything like it for an opening act
in a very long ..long time' type comments. It's really overwhelming
for us and our answer to them is this: t
hank the fans for coming early and supporting us, thank
them for making this show so great for all of us. The fans
have all the power, they are the voice, not the industry.
We serve the fans. Thank you for supporting the underdog,
we love it!!!
Ok now let's talk about the band responsible,
that gave Kataklysm the chance in the first place:
Dimmu Borgir.
They have been phenomenal, they set a real
dark ambiance and the expectation is met. I enjoy watching
them every night, DevilDriver and Unearth have also been
giving 100% kicking ass and doing very good. We are getting
along with everyone on the tour... and YES, for all those
who are wondering, we are also sharing a bus with DevilDriver!
It was either gonna be the end of the world or we would
respect each other and make it work ,they extended their
hand to us, and if I may say so myself, it's been all good.
The boys have had nothing but respect for Kataklysm and
we're having fun with them.
Well that's it for now. Memorable, memorable...
words that come to my mind. Everyone come early, don't miss
out on Kataklysm's devastation... Be there and say hello
if you see us in the crowd, we wanna meet with you.
Cheers!!

03/13/2007 - KATAKLYSM COMMENT ON UPCOMING TOUR WITH DIMMU BORGIR
Canada's Kings of Northern Hyperblast KATAKLYSM have returned home after an extensive tour that began on January 2nd in Europe and finished here in the U.S. on March 8th.
Completing one of their most successful European runs, the band had several sell-out performances in Holland, Italy, Austria, and Germany, then flew straight to North America to embark on the very rewarding Trendkiller Tour with Sworn Enemy, Suicide Silence, As Blood Runs Black, and Too Pure To Die. KATAKLYSM's growth in the U.S. has been undeniable and the band is now setting their focus on their highly-anticipated spring tour with label mates DIMMU BORGIR. Lead singer Maurizio Iacono comments:
"We were just about to finish our European tour at the end of January when we were notified of the chance to do this tour with DIMMU. Of course, the whole band was REALLY into doing this, as we are all fans of DIMMU's music so there was no doubt about our interest. We have to especially thank [DIMMU founding member & guitarist] Silenoz for hand-picking KATAKLYSM. We are honored about it. Many of our fans on this last tour told us they already bought their tickets, so it looks like it will be a massive turn-out! All I have to say is that we are prepared to deliver a bombastic set. We promise you that heads will roll! We also look forward to sharing the stage with the other bands on the package - Unearth and Devildriver. See you there!!".
03/03/2007 - NEW WEBSITE & MORE...
Kataklysm's new website will be launched soon, stay tuned for details...
Kataklysm has confirmed an exclusive German summer appearance at the BATTLE OF METAL open air festival on July 6th. The band has also secured their appearance at the EVOLUTION FEST in Italy on July 7th.
More news coming soon...
02/22/2007 - CANCELLATION
Tonight's show in Portland, OR. has been cancelled due to severe weather conditions in the Northwest, making it impossible for the tour bus to make it in time as roads are blocked off. Sworn Enemy and Kataklysm apologize to all their fans. We are hopefull to make the Seattle show tomorrow if the weather allows it.
02/20/2007 - CANCELLATION
Kataklysm has officially cancelled their previously scheduled HELL-RAISER Open Air appearance (May 25th) & ROCK HARD Open Air (May 26th) due to North American touring plans overlapping. The band is very sorry for this situation and is planning to reschedule all shows that have been compromised.
02/06/2007 - KATAKLYSM'S FIFTH MEMBER
Canadian death metallers KATAKLYSM have decided to "immortalize" the character that was featured on the cover of their most recent album, "In the Arms of Devastation", and have him re-appear as the main character — dubbed "The Heartbeast" — on their next offering.
Commented KATAKLYSM vocalist Maurizio Iacono: "We had so [much] killer feedback on the artwork but especially on the character that we decided to keep him as the band's fifth band member... kinda like IRON MAIDEN did with 'Eddie.' We have the perfect concept for the next album art... it will be bad-ass!"
KATAKLYSM filmed its performance last summer at the Party-San Open Air festival in Bad Berka, Germany for the band's new DVD, titled "Live in Deutschland (The Devastation Begins)". The set will feature the whole show filled with an explosive setlist, a 30-minute documentary covering the band's 15-year history and a bonus live CD. A February 20 North American release via Nuclear Blast is expected.
As previously reported, Nuclear Blast Records will re-release KATAKLYSM's latest album, "In the Arms of Devastation", in North America to coincide with the band's upcoming U.S. tour. The album will be reissued on February 6 with new packaging and will contain the "The End of Serenity: Live in Strassbourg" DVD, which was filmed during the "Serenity in Fire" campaign in France. The CD will also contain all of the band's video clips and will be limited to 5,000 copies.
KATAKLYSM is currently on the road with SWORN ENEMY as part of the "Trendkiller Tour".
